ABOUT US

The St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association was established as a body corporate under the Legal Profession Act. The purposes of the Association are:

 

  • to promote and maintain the highest standards of practice, conduct and proficiency of the legal profession in Saint Christopher and Nevis;

 

  • to represent and protect the interests of the legal profession in Saint Christopher and Nevis;

 

  • to protect and assist the public in Saint Christopher and Nevis in all matters relating to attorneys-at-law;

 

  • to promote good relations within the profession, between the profession and persons concerned in the administration of justice in Saint Christopher and Nevis and between the profession and the public generally;

 

  • to promote good relations between the profession and professional bodies of the legal profession in other countries and to participate in the activities of any approved international association of lawyers and to become a member thereof;

 

  • to promote, maintain and support the administration of justice and the rule of law;

 

  • to maintain the honour and independence of the Bar in its relations with the judicial and the executive branches of government;

 

  • to promote and report on legislation in Saint Christopher and Nevis and to promote and support desirable measures of law reform; and

 

  • to do such other things as are incidental or conducive to achieving the purposes stated above.

 

The affairs of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association are managed by the Council of elected officers and members. Elections are held annually.

ABOUT ST. KITTS & NEVIS

Capital and largest city‎: ‎Basseterre‎; 17°18′N | ISO 3166 | Government‎: ‎Federal parliamentary.

 

The Islands of St. Kitts and Nevis are situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It is 104 square miles and has a population of approximately 55,345 persons.

 

The Federation is celebrated for trendsetters as it started the first Economic Citizenship Programme/Citizenship by Investment Programme known to the World. That programme has evolved tremendously with several countries throughout the World adopting the same.

 

The island of St. Kitts is affectionately referred to as, "Sugar City" and is the home to the World Heritage Site, Brimstone Hill. The capital of St. Kitts is Basseterre. The island of Nevis is affectionately referred to as, "Queen City". The capital of Nevis is Charlestown. Nevis is known for its Financial Services Sector which offers many financial products for international business, some of which include Nevis Business Corporations (IBCs), Nevis Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), Nevis International Exempt Trust (Nevis Trust) and Multi-Form Foundations.
